Deep Brown Medicine Cup

Lined with a clay slip, dipped to top of fluting, and faceted with a twist. Thrown with intent on good energy and healing. Feels good to hold in your hands.
Woodfired in an anagama kiln for 5 days. The chocolatey browns and reds are colors from atmospheric conditions inside the kiln. No glaze was applied.
Coloring comes from just the flames and ash, along with carbon trapped in the surface during a period of reduction in the firing cycle.
The three dark spots on the foot are from wads that helped keep the cup from sticking to the kiln shelf.
